On-Site First Year Residency Opportunities

NUNM Health Centers, Portland, OR
Lauri Elizabeth, LAc

  • One (1) Full-time, 53 week position
  • Start date: late August 2018
  • Salary $30,000
  • General practice with time primarily spent assisting faculty and students at the NUNM Lair Hill Health Center with possible shifts at the Beaverton Clinic.
  • Two to three private shifts to treat your own patients.
  • Choose a clinical mentor from among NUNM’s faculty to guide your self-directed learning for the year.
  • Attend and assist on a Traditional Mentorship Tutorial course for three terms.
  • Assist in academic and open lab settings. Opportunity to teach two elective courses in the program.
  • Other projects and activities, as determine by your supervisor.
  • Strong academic and teaching background preferred.

Residencies – Non NUNM Health Centers

Oregon Residencies

White Phoenix Acupuncture, Portland, OR
Allyndreth Stead, LAc

  • One (1) Full-time, 12 month position
  • Start date: Sept. 1, 2018
  • Salary: $30,000
  • Community-style acupuncture clinic with brand new in-house herbal pharmacy, focus on herbs for the Shan Han Lun and Fire Spirit School.
  • General practice with specialties in: cancer care, GI issues, auto-immune conditions, asthma/allergies, all pain conditions, anxiety.
  • Participate in the care of patients, case discussion, receive mentoring in herbal prescriptions.
  • Supervisors’ primary mentors and teachers: Heiner Fruehauf, Bob Quinn, Cole Magbanua.
  • Modalities practiced include: Toyohair Japanese acupuncture, Tan-style distal acupuncture, cupping, direct moxibustion.
  • Assist in practice management, including front -desk work, preparing reports for Board Meetings, marketing, public speaking, blogging.
  • Assist in filling herbal prescriptions.
  • Weekly acupuncture staff training meetings to discuss difficult diagnostic cases.
  • Option to stay on as full-time practitioner after residency.
  • White Phoenix Acupuncture is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Practitioners who work full-time for non-profit organizations for 10 years may be eligible for Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness.

Washington Residencies

Vancouver Acupuncture, Vancouver, WA
Dr. Edward Chiu, LAc, DAOM

    • One (1) Full-time, 12 month position
    • Start date: fall 2018
    • Salary: $30,000
    • General practice including orthopedics, women’s health, GI, cardiology, respiratory issues, neurology
    • Participate in the care of patients with case discussion.
    • Modalities practiced include: acupuncture (combination of orthopedic, Master Tung, Balance Method (Dr. Tan), Kiiko Matsumoto style and Japanese acupuncture), cupping, indirect moxa, essential oils.
    • Assist in practice management.
    • Opportunity for mentoring in case report writing and publication.

To qualify as an applicant for the NUNM AOM Residency Program, individuals must have graduated with a Master of Acupuncture, Master of Science in Oriental Medicine, or a Doctor of Science in Oriental Medicine (or equivalent degree) from an accredited college or university.
