Michael Chung, PhD

Dr. Chung received his PhD in TCM from the Tianjin TCM University in China. Since 2001, he has been deeply involved in TCM legislation, which included the establishment of TCM licensing examinations and mandatory safety courses for herbology practice and the development of the core competencies for TCM practice in British Columbia, Canada. Dr. Chung is also actively involved in TCM clinical trials and methodology research. His clinical interests are in the fields of diabetes, infertility and skin disorders.

Amber Hincks, LAc

Amber Hincks practices acupuncture at Vitalize Acupuncture + Wellness in Portland, and is clinical faculty at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. Prior to studying acupuncture, Hincks worked in fertility clinics such as Oregon Reproductive Medicine and saw first-hand the inner-workings of assisted reproduction. Her graduate research project was on the safety of acupuncture in pregnancy, and she went on to train as a birth doula and later certified with the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine.

Liz Richards, LAc

Liz Richards is a licensed acupuncturist and clinical herbalist with over 15 years’ experience treating fertility patients with natural medicine. Richards is the clinic director and owner of Blossom Clinic and author of Nourishing Fertility: An A-to-Z Guide, a patient-centered e-book filled with her best fertility tips and advice. She is also an acupuncture associate at Oregon Reproductive Medicine.

Lisa Tongel, LAc

Lisa Tongel is an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist with 20 years’ experience in reproductive medicine. She focuses her practice on treating infertility, with an emphasis on treating diminished ovarian reserve and recurrent pregnancy loss. In 2000, Tongel was one of the first acupuncturists in Portland to begin working closely with local fertility specialists, a collaboration that led to providing on-site acupuncture at the time of IVF embryo transfer. She has extensive experience using acupuncture and Chinese herbs as a successful adjuvant treatment during IVF and IUI cycles, and has supported more than a thousand women through their fertility cycles. Tongel currently sees patients at Portland Acupuncture Studio in Northwest Portland.
