NUNM’s College of Classical Chinese Medicine is seeking an adjunct academic faculty member to teach the “Foundations of Classical Chinese Medicine I” course. Adjunct faculty members perform instructional duties and responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy, mission, policies, and procedures of the University and appropriate to the individual assignment. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of teacher, mentor and facilitator of learning.

Course Name: Foundations of Classical Chinese Medicine I

Course Credits: 2 credits
The first in a series of three courses on the foundations of classical Chinese medicine, this course introduces students to the ideas that underlie and form the foundation of Chinese medicine. Topics covered include a brief history, introduction to classical Chinese philosophy, and such core concepts as the holographic quality of phenomena, dynamism, and complexity, the symbolic pattern language used to describe the universe (yin-yang, wu xing, zang xiang, etc) as well as the relationship between matter, energy and spirit (jing-qi-shen). The curriculum attempts to correlate the wisdom of these ancient concepts with contemporary insights gained from the quantum cosmology of modern physics and other contemporary sciences.
Eligible applicants for this position must have graduated with at least a master’s degree from an accredited Acupuncture and Chinese medicine institution in China or North America, and be a licensed acupuncturist (L.Ac.) in the state of Oregon. They must be hold expertise in the content area of the course and have a minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience.
