POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Advancement and Alumni Officer plays an important role in supporting the strategic goals of the Advancement office at NUNM. This is a grant-funded, one-year term position with a possibility of continuation contingent upon funding. This role, as part of a small 2-person Advancement team, supports donor and corporate relations, alumni engagement activities, and initiatives to enhance the university’s relationship with its alumni and donors. The position requires exceptional organizational skills, strategic thinking, and a proactive approach to building and maintaining relationships.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Alumni and Donor Engagement and Support
- Serve as a point of contact for alumni and donors, ensuring they feel connected to the university.
- Assist in the execution and management of fundraising campaigns, planned giving, and year-end appeals.
- Support corporate sponsorship renewals and relationships in collaboration with the Advancement VP.
- Manage and maintain accurate alumni, donor, and corporate contact information in the CRM software.
- Oversee gift recording and donor acknowledgment processes, including thank-you letters and recognition materials.
- Support the creation and distribution of alumni and corporate sponsor communications, including newsletters and event invitations.
- Provide oversight and logistical support for events and meetings, including preparation of materials, set-up, and follow-up communication (may include very occasional evening or weekend work).
- Track and report alumni and donor activity in the CRM system.
- Represent NUNM at campus and community events as needed.
Strategic Planning and Leadership
- Assist in the development and implementation of strategies to enhance alumni and donor engagement.
- Collaborate with various departments to align alumni and donor activities with the university’s strategic goals.
- Analyze and report on the effectiveness of alumni and donor engagement initiatives.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Handle administrative tasks for the department such as data entry, processing donations, credit card reconciliations, and mailings.
- Assist with grant-related administrative tasks, such as compiling documentation and tracking deadlines.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 2 years of fundraising experience in a nonprofit or higher education environment.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
