POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Medicinary Specialist supports the daily operations of the NUNM Health Center Medicinary by dispensing natural medicines, compounding formulas, managing inventory and orders, and providing exceptional customer service to patients, students, and providers. This role also ensures compliance with regulatory standards, supervises work-study students, and supports the NUNM Store on-call as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the day-to-day operations of the NUNM Health Center Medicinary, and provide occasional sales coverage for the NUNM Store.
Fill and dispense provider-prescribed herbs, supplements and other Medicinary products, reviewing and recording prescriptions issued for accuracy and safety
Compound natural medications, using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
Ensure all prescription labels are appropriately completed; including all relevant and required ingredient information.
Ensure meticulous and accurate data entry of products and patient information in all aspects of medicinary recordkeeping.
Ensure accurate pricing and processing of products, special orders, and mail orders.
Answer questions and provide information to Medicinary customers, students and providers, within legal guidelines, in a professional, courteous, and timely manner.
Address and resolve questions about product returns from customers.
Assist in supervision, training and oversight of work study students on proper Medicinary procedures including compounding, checkout, security, sanitary procedures, phone use, professionalism, etc.
Maintain inventory of retail products, ingredients, and supplies, anticipating orders as needed,
Provide cashiering function for sales of merchandise and prescriptions and reconcile daily sales with receipts before deposit.
Assist in annual inventory count of medicinary products, which may occur on a Saturday.
Follow all FDA and OSHA requirements regarding health and safety and quality of formulation.
Maintain strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance requirements.
Work evenings as needed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Associate’s degree required; two years of experience working in retail, formulation or sales of nutritional and herbal supplements; bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university preferred.

PAY AND BENEFITS
- $21.50 an hour Base Wage
