POSITION DESCRIPTION
Provides assistance to the Dean of Naturopathic Medicine in the development, delivery and assessment of the academic education, specifically clinical sciences, for the naturopathic program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum Development and Oversight:
- Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate the clinical science and modality courses and curriculum to ensure alignment with current educational standards.
- Work with the Associate Dean of Basic Sciences to oversee the integration of basic sciences with clinical science courses to provide a comprehensive learning experience.
- Evaluate and facilitate the incorporation of innovative teaching methods and technologies.
- Guide and support the development and revision of assessments within the clinical sciences and modality courses.
Faculty Management:
- Collaborate with the dean for hiring of full and part-time classroom faculty.
- Provide mentorship and support to faculty members within the clinical sciences and modality curriculum.
- Promote interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty and encourage professional growth opportunities.
Academic Administration:
- Support the Dean of the College of Naturopathic Medicine in day-to-day operations of the naturopathic program, specific to the clinical science and modality courses.
- Provide input to the ND Dean on budget items related to clinical science and modality curriculum.
- Serve on academic, institutional and professional committees as needed.
- In collaboration with the Dean, responsible for academic policy development for issues related to naturopathic academic education.
Institutional Representation:
- Assist the Dean in chairing academic faculty meetings, as needed
- Support the activities of the Department of Admissions in recruiting students to the College of Naturopathic Medicine and other programs of the University. Develop and present ND lectures for admissions events as needed
- Support the mission, vision, and values of the University in all respects.
Accreditation:
Work with the Dean of Naturopathic Medicine to:
- Ensure that the College of Naturopathic Medicine is in compliance with the standards of the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education.
- Ensure the timely and thorough completion of all self-studies, annual reports, special reports and other documents required by the various accrediting bodies.
- Ensure that the College of Naturopathic Medicine complies with the standards of all North American licensing jurisdictions.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Medical doctorate degree, with three years’ experience in administration, curriculum design, or teaching required.
Doctoral degree in naturopathic medicine and one year of an administrative role with supervisory responsibilities preferred.
