POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Facilities & Custodial Associate supports the safe, clean, and functional operation of campus facilities. This position is responsible for a range of custodial duties, routine maintenance tasks, event setup/teardown, and general facilities support to ensure that students, employees, and visitors experience a well-maintained and welcoming environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Facility Duties
- Assist with minor repairs and preventive maintenance, including lightbulb changes, tightening fixtures, and basic furniture repairs.
- Support event and meeting setups, including arranging tables, chairs, and AV equipment.
- Assist with campus moves, furniture assembly/disassembly, and relocation of supplies or equipment.
- Monitor building systems and report issues (e.g., plumbing, HVAC, electrical) to Facilities management.
- Support safety and security measures, including locking/unlocking designated areas.
- Facilitate solutions for concerns, issues and communications regarding compliance, contractor relationships, communication and liaison with city and regional planners and compliance officers.
- Solicit, examine and select in accordance with college approval processes bids from contractors.
- Direct workers engaged in moving furniture and equipment and prepare facilities for occupancy.
- Administer maintenance program for the college vehicle.
- Perform emergency lighting and fire extinguisher checks monthly of all buildings
- Assists with campus parking issues. Assists employees, students and visitors with any parking related issues. Notifies supervisor to call for tow truck and/or police services as may be necessary. Maintains parking lots and parking lot equipment and reports all problems to maintenance.
- Unlocks and locks facilities. Unlocks secured areas when requested by authorized persons. Ensures that areas are secured when appropriate.
- Assure First Aid kits at all college locations are stocked regularly.
- Ensure the fire extinguishers and fire alarm systems of all campus buildings are tested yearly in conjunction with the Chief of Security.
- Work with the Safety Committee to coordinate environmental health and safety programs and assist with providing health and safety equipment as needed.
Custodial Duties
- Provide supplemental cleaning as needed to support the outsourced custodial crew, ensuring campus spaces remain safe, clean, and welcoming.
- Restock supplies such as paper products, soap, and sanitizer.
- Assist with upkeep of buildings, furniture, and fixtures to ensure they remain in good working condition
- Maintain an efficient custodial supply order system
- Perform morning trash pick up of the campus regarding litter and debris
- Occasionally dusting entrances (outside) and power washing entrances to buildings and parking lots
- Salting parking lots during inclement weather.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High-School diploma (or equivalent)

This in-person position will be based at our campus in Portland, Oregon.
