PORTLAND, Ore. (May 27, 2010)—National College of Natural Medicine announced today that its NCNM Clinic will host an open house on Sat., June 5 to highlight women’s health issues. The NCNM Clinic, located on the medical college’s campus at the west end of the Ross Island Bridge in South Portland, opened in 2009 and holds an open house on a specific health topic several times a year.

The event will offer women attending the event free 15-minute consultations with a naturopathic physician or Chinese medical practitioner.

The clinic will also offer door prizes and presentations about health topics of interest to women, including talks on infertility, pre- and post-pregnancy, menopause, PMS, skin care and other topics.

Dr. Jill Stanard, director of clinical operations at NCNM, said that the clinic open house gives the public a chance to learn about natural options for healthy living, a subject that Stanard thinks is gathering momentum.

“Natural approaches to health are becoming less alternative and more mainstream,” Stanard said. “It’s hard to open a newspaper these days without seeing articles that focus on some aspect of natural medicine—nutrition, exercise, herbal supplements, acupuncture—to name just a few. The clinic open house is a way to give people who may be curious about natural medicine a chance to tour our clinic and hear about natural health care and the options that are available to them.”

The women’s health event takes place Sat., June 5 from 1—4 p.m. at NCNM Clinic located at 3025 SW Corbett Avenue in Portland. Children’s health will be the focus of the next scheduled clinic open house on Saturday, Aug. 28.
