Wellness Program Features Classical Chinese Medicine
PORTLAND, Ore. (Oct. 19, 2011)—Laurie Regan, PhD, ND, the dean of the School of Classical Chinese Medicine (CCM) at the National College of Natural Medicine, along with Heiner Fruehauf, PhD, LAc, the CCM School’s founder, have taken to the airwaves to share practical solutions for staying healthy in the modern world. They co-host “True Nature Radio,” a weekly series of 30-minute programs broadcast by Pagatim.fm, a Portland-based Internet radio station that creates and distributes socially conscious radio programs.
“True Nature Radio” programs will explore ancient and natural systems of healing, says Regan, and how they are relevant in today’s world of health care.
“Natural medical traditions are rooted in a belief held by many ancient cultures—that human beings are an inseparable part of the natural world,” she says. “We teach our CCM students that health is governed by natural laws—and when we live in accordance with those laws, our bodies have an innate ability to respond to changes in our environment in a way that keeps us healthy.”
Regan believes that our modern society has lost the awareness of the natural capacity to heal, as well as the instinct for living in harmony and balance. This, she says, is “our own true nature.”
The Thursday afternoon series debut on Oct. 6 featured a discussion about an emerging model for health care that combines the best of ancient and modern medicine with Ahvie Herskowitz, MD, a cardiologist, former University of California at San Francisco medical school professor, CEO of the Institute for One World Health, and founder of the Anatara Group, an integrative medical practice in San Francisco.
