Pacific Northwest native Hannah Hitz celebrates diversity of natural medicine profession, guiding future healers to explore their passions.
The Admissions team at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) is dedicated to providing resources and guidance to students so they choose the right path in natural medicine.
In highlighting our Admissions team and their contributions to the NUNM community, we asked Hannah Hitz, Associate Director of Admissions and Recruitment, to share more about her role:
Where’s home? And what did you like about living there?
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest. Although the world has become hotter, I always enjoyed the cooler, milder summers that the Pacific Northwest offered.
Where did you go to school? And what did you study?
I studied Korean and Arabic at a state university in Oregon.
What’s the best part of your job working in Admissions?
The best part of my job is being able to help people pursue their dreams of becoming doctors, acupuncturists, and other health specialists! It’s great to engage with a diverse group of people who are interested in natural medicine.
Why is NUNM in Portland a great place to be a student, or to study natural medicine?
Portland attracts people who are interested in holistic medicine. You can find so many opportunities and communities that subscribe to different niche health modalities. There’s a robust offering for students to experience modalities that they might not have previously even thought of or had interest in.
What’s unique about the NUNM experience and community here?
There’s a real focus on the person here. It’s all about relationship-building and advocating for better health – regardless of the program any one student may be interested in. If you’re looking for faculty and staff that truly care about your success, then NUNM is the place for you!
