It is with profound and unspeakable sadness that we share the news that Morgan Chicarelli, our beloved and invaluable Director of Student Success, passed away of natural causes on October 7.
For the past 14 years, Morgan has been an integral part of the NUNM family, touching the lives of countless students, faculty, and staff. Her positive contributions, tireless dedication, and unwavering support have left an indelible mark on our community, and her absence will be deeply felt. We will miss her not only as a colleague but as a shining light who made the world brighter every time you talked with her.
Morgan’s husband Christopher Curry shared with us that her work at NUNM was core to her being. We have worked with him to honor Morgan with a Celebration of Life ceremony, to which the whole NUNM community is warmly invited to attend:
Celebration of Life of Morgan Chicarelli
Friday, November 8
at 6 PM
in NUNM’s Mitchell Hall (49 S. Porter St., Portland, OR 97201)
As we all come to terms with this devastating loss, we are rallying together to support her family during this difficult time. A GoFundMe has been created to help Chris navigate the unexpected expenses of Morgan’s loss and to provide support as he adjusts to life without his beloved partner. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will be greatly appreciated and will go directly to Chris during this incredibly challenging time. To donate, visit the GoFundMe page.
We also invite the NUNM community to share, via the form below, your favorite memories of Morgan, messages of support, and photos we hope to display during the Celebration of Life gathering. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Choice Adoptions.
We understand the immense impact that Morgan’s passing may have on many of you whose lives she touched. As we navigate this difficult time, please prioritize your well-being and take the time you need to care for yourselves and support one another. Remember, you are not alone in your grief. NUNM has grief support guidance and support services available for its students, faculty, staff, and community. We encourage you to reach out if you need assistance.
