Reporting & Quarantine

Do not come to campus if you are ill, regardless of the reason. If you are symptomatic and test negative for COVID-19, do not return to campus until you have been cleared by the Infectious Disease Task Force. 

 

Infectious Disease Reporting Form 

All NUNM students, faculty and staff members who have contagious symptoms (including flu, cold, and COVID) or have tested positive for COVID-19 should complete this form. The form will require you to log in with your NUNM email account. Upon reporting, you will be given instructions by the Infectious Disease Task Force within one business day. Students will also be contacted by Dean of Students, and employees will be contacted by the Vice President of Human Resources.

Isolation Guidelines

Healthcare Workers 

Applies to all NUNM clinical employees and students, and non-clinical employees and students working or learning in a clinical setting. 

  • Exposed: Regardless of vaccination status, it is recommended that all individuals with COVID-19 exposures are tested immediately (but not earlier than 24 hours after the exposure) and, if negative, again 48 hours after the first negative test and, if negative, again 48 hours after the second negative test. This will typically be at Day 1 (where day of exposure is Day 0), Day 3 and Day 5.  A high-quality mask should be worn on campus through day 10.  
  • Positive: All individuals regardless of vaccination status are required to isolate for a minimum of 5 days, with the date of symptom onset (or the date of the positive test if asymptomatic) being Day 0. Individuals may return after a 5-day isolation so long as their symptoms are improving. Return to campus is contingent upon individuals being fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications. 
  • A high-quality mask should be worn on campus through at least 10 days after their symptom onset. 

Non-Clinical Students and Employees 

  • Exposed: All individuals with COVID-19 exposures are to seek testing on Day 5 after the exposure regardless of vaccination status. 
  • A high-quality mask should be worn on campus through day 10 
  • Positive:  If you test positive for COVID-19, stay home until your symptoms are resolving and you have been fever-free for 24 hours with the use of fever reducing medications.  
  • A high-quality mask should be worn on campus at least 5 days upon return to normal activities.

You are likely most infectious during the first 5 days of illness. 

  • Monitor your symptoms. If you have an emergency warning sign seek emergency medical care immediately.
