From the small-town of Washougal to the big-city bustle of Seattle, discovering a culture that “oozes healthy vibes’ at NUNM.
The Admissions team at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) is dedicated to providing resources and guidance to students so they choose the right path in natural medicine.
In highlighting our Admissions team and their contributions to the NUNM community, we asked admissions counselor Rebecca Bohlin to share more about their role:
Where’s home? And what did you like about living there?
I grew up in Washougal, a small town near the southern border of Washington. I liked that it was close to Portland for activities and shopping, but also had so many opportunities for me to be in nature. I also called Seattle “home” for many years and loved being part of a bigger city for a while.
Where did you go to school? And what did you study?
I went to the University of Washington for a Political Science and History degree. Later, I attended Lewis & Clark College for their Social Studies Teacher Education program.
What’s the best part of your job working in Admissions?
Telling visitors at Health Fairs about the amazing place that is NUNM. I love seeing prospective students light up with interest, knowing it matches what they’re looking for in a school and healthcare philosophy.
Why is NUNM in Portland a great place to be a student, or to study natural medicine?
I think Portland and natural medicine are a great fit. PDX embraces and offers so many ways to explore healthy ways of being—outdoor opportunities, a variety of wellness centers, organizations helping to end barriers to health, etc. When it comes to student life, there are so many free and fun events to attend in PDX and find community at.
What’s unique about the NUNM experience and community here?
Everyone here at NUNM cares about each other’s success. It oozes healthy vibes. It just feels like a great place to study and learn.
