Dr. Satya Ambrose received the OANP’s Living Legend Awards, as Drs. Terrance and Valeria Manning named Rising Stars at annual conference.
Three alumni of the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) were honored by the Oregon Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OANP) for their dedication to the naturopathic profession.
Dr. Satya Ambrose received the OANP’s 2024 Living Legend Award, as Dr. Terrance Manning II and Dr. Valeria Manning earned the organization’s first Rising Star Awards. The trio were recognized at the OANP’s 29th Annual Pharmacy and Ethics Conference, which took place October 19-20 in Portland.
“It is always thrilling to see my mentors and colleagues honored for the incredible work they are doing in the community,” said Dr. Carrie Baldwin-Sayre, associate vice president of advancement and community engagement at NUNM.
Ambrose, an acupuncturist and naturopathic physician, earned her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from NUNM in 1989. Practicing for over 30 years, she co-founded the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, where she taught nutrition, biochemistry and pediatrics.
The Living Legend Awards honors extraordinary lifetime achievement among members of the naturopathic medicine community. The award is selected from a nomination of an individual who has demonstrated “leadership, commitment to excellence and selfless contributions in the advancement of natural medicine.”
Husband and wife duo Terrance Manning and Valeria Manning, graduated from the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program at NUNM in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
Terrance practices as a specialist in interventional orthopedic and orthobiologic medicine at RestorePDX in Lake Oswego. He is also an adjunct clinical faculty at NUNM and serves on the Board of the Naturopathic Orthopedic Medicine. Valeria practices as a naturopathic physician at La Clínica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe and is the founding president of Oregon’s Latino Provider Association.
The OANP was founded in 1909, and is the oldest association representing naturopathic doctors in North America. Its mission is to support our members and improve the health of the public through the advancement of Naturopathic Medicine.
