Acupuncturist and author Ellen Goldsmith ’99 dives into Chinese medicine’s perspective on food and health.
National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) alum Ellen Goldsmith, MSOM, LAc, appeared on the GW Integrative Medicine podcast to discuss Chinese medicine and its perspective on food and health.
Goldsmith, who earned her Master of Science Oriental Medicine from NUNM in 1999, is a nationally board-certified, licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist. The former member of NUNM’s Board of Directors is also co-author of the book Nutritional Healing with Chinese Medicine.
In the “Nutrition & Chinese Medicine” episode, which published on November 1, Goldsmith shares how medicinal foods, such as Astragalus, Dioscorea, goji berries, dates and mushrooms, can be utilized on a daily basis to improve health.
“In Chinese medicine and Chinese culture, food and medicine are inseparable,” Goldsmith said to the hosts. “Food is medicine. Medicine is food.”
The podcast, which is hosted by Janette Rodrigues and Mikail Kogan, is produced by the Office of Integrative Medicine and Health at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
