7 holiday gift ideas from the NUNM Campus Store

Hunting for last-minute a present? Late can also mean local when shopping, and we have you covered.

Whether you forgot to pick up a card to go with your holiday gift or looking for some swag that shows your support for natural medicine, the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) store on campus has you covered.

Grab a sweatshirt to keep that special someone warm in those colder months or snag an NUNM mug to accompany a bag of coffee for a friend. Pair some literature on nutrition and botanical medicine with a hand-illustrated or Portland-themed greeting card.

It’s also a great spot to gather smaller items and snacks to round out your stocking stuffers. Happy gifting!

NUNM Apparel

You don’t have to be a student to rock our NUNM apparel. If you know someone who loves natural medicine—or just loves supporting you in your natural medicine journey—consider gifting them an NUNM t-shirt or sweatshirt. Find both t-shirts and sweatshirts, designed with a limited-edition logo, at the campus store. Sizes range from small to extra large and each style is available in either light gray or dark green.

Holiday Greeting Cards

Choose from a number of different greeting cards to go along with your gift. The campus store carries a variety of holiday-themed greeting cards for the season, as well as various occasions. Find affordable blank cards created by NUNM staff, with images of botanical herbs and plants commonly found around campus, or spread your love of Portland with a card featuring a photograph of an iconic landscape or city landmark. You can even find cards with medicinal herbs illustrated by Alice Projects, a Nehalem based Oregon artist.

Natural Medicine Books

Natural medicine literature can also be found on the shelves at the campus store. Choose from a variety of books authored by NUNM alumni and faculty that explore topics such as Chinese medicine, herbal medicine and nutrition. Pick up a copy of Food as Medicine Everyday: Reclaim Your Health with Whole Foods, a staple read for nutrition students and the Food as Medicine Institute, co-authored by Dr. Julie Briley and Dr. Courtney Jackson. It also carries The Nourish Me Kitchen series by alumna Dr. Erika Siegel ’04—a two-volume set including Essential Health Wisdom, an East-meets-West field guide for living vibrantly and aging gracefully, and Wholesome Everyday Recipes for healthful cooking inspiration.

NUNM Mugs

Snag a mug designed with our limited-edition NUNM logo before they disappear for the season. These classic diner-style mugs have a sturdy handle and make great gifts when paired with a local tea or coffee.

Student-Designed Apparel

Available online only is this unique apparel designed by NUNM students. The “Healing Heart” by NUNM Nutrition alumna Raina MacDonnell ’23 features a heart and honeycomb design. “Healing with the Dao,” created by College of Classical Chinese Medicine student Jiayang Li, represents a yin-yang symbol against a colorful natural landscape. Support student creativity by purchasing these t-shirts and sweatshirts, available in a variety of colors and styles, from our special online store.

Stocking Stuffers

The campus store also has an array of teas, chocolates, savory snacks and other small items to round out your gift box or add as stocking stuffers. Pick up some Portland Bee Balm lip balm made with natural beeswax from a local beekeeper. NUNM is also one of only a few Oregon locations to sell Browndages, a family-owned company that makes bandages for darker skin tones.

Bonus: Donate to NUNM

If you’ve already done your holiday shopping and would just like to support students, research and work being done at NUNM, you can make a generous donation to the institution. Gifts of any size are an investment in critical priorities and can help fund initiatives that celebrate our shared values in natural medicine.
