Claudia Nakama earned her master’s degree in Global Health from the National University of Natural Medicine during which time she focused on female reproductive health and the microbiome. Claudia went on to work in a microbiome research startup where she gained experience in compliance, clinical trial management, process development, and quality control. She continues to provide clinical research design and program management support for microbiome science-based startups.

Claudia currently holds a position at the Oregon Clinical and Translation Research Institute within Oregon Health and Sciences University where she works to help investigators, regional partners, and OHSU study teams translate biomedical advances into healthcare prevention and treatments. She leads educational and funding initiatives that help innovators navigate barriers along the commercialization pathway, particularly around FDA Regulatory Compliance.

Claudia started teaching classes in the Global Health track in the Spring of 2022. She is excited to bring her passion for Program Design and Management back to the NUNM community.
