Dr. Che’s has been teaching in the nutrition program at NUNM since its founding. Dr. Che specializes in experiential learning, bridging the gap between the traditional classroom and the culinary medicine teaching kitchen. Dr. Che emphasizes hands-on, practical learning as a tool to master more complex biomedical and nutrition concepts. She is also passionate about student mentorship and professional development. She can be found lecturing in a classroom, teaching students to cook in the teaching kitchen, or immersing students in the community by taking them on field excursions to farms, non-profits, educational facilities, or farm-to-table-centered restaurants, and introducing them to the folks working to improve our local food system. Dr. Che’s commitment to preventive medicine goes hand-in-hand with her love of nutrition and cooking, and she is passionate about teaching them in tandem.

Dr. Che earned her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from NUNM in 2013.  Prior to completing her studies at NUNM, Dr. Che attended the University of Oregon, where she completed a BS in Biology focusing on ecology and evolution. While completing her undergraduate studies, she did field research on the conservation efforts in the Ecuadorian rainforest, the Galapagos Islands, New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji. Before coming to NUNM, Dr. Che coordinated pharmaceutical research studies and worked as an analytical chemist and senior microbiologist for an environmental laboratory. Dr. Che also has about two decades of experience in the food industry.
