Douglas Hanes, PhD

Douglas Hanes completed a PhD in Mathematics at the University of Michigan in 1999. Before joining NUNM in 2012, he served for three years as an assistant professor of mathematics at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, then for six years as research associate at the Legacy Clinical Research and Technology Center in Portland, Oregon. He holds an affiliate faculty appointment in the Fariborz Maseeh Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Portland State University.
Dr. Hanes teaches biostatistics and research methodology at NUNM, across several programs, and he mentors numerous student and research projects. He is also faculty for the BRIDG postdoctoral training program and contributes to numerous research efforts as a member of the Helfgott research team. He has particular interests in data analytic techniques, research study design, environmental influences on health, and neuroscience.
