Both TCM and CCM hearken back to a shared heritage, rooted in the naturalist philosophies of Daoism and Confucianism. These philosophies, in turn, guided the writings of the Han dynasty Chinese medical classics that comprise the foundations of all Chinese medicine. While there are differences, such as the place of modern science in guiding medical thinking or the amount of emphasis placed on historical texts, the differences pale when viewed from a different lens of comparing either to modern biomedicine. Ultimately, because all Chinese medicine comes from similar philosophical roots, there is considerable overlap between the two schools of thought.
Absolutely. Students graduating from the CCM program at NUNM are eligible to sit for the same national board examinations as OCOM TCM students. This ensures that you will be fully qualified and able to practice as a licensed professional upon completion of your studies. Upon completion of your program, whether through a teach-out or transfer, your degree will be conferred by NUNM and will bear NUNM’s name. For those students who are part of the “teach-out” we are still working with our accreditors to finalize your degree name.
