Shirin Pourafshar, PhD, MSCR, RDN
Clinical Research Manager, Standard Process
“Nutrition and food science research as a part of supplement development with Standard Process”

Shirin PourafsharDr. Shirin Pourafshar is currently serving as the Manager of Clinical Research at Standard Process Inc. Her academic journey began at Shiraz University in Iran, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology. Seeking to deepen her expertise, she relocated to the United States and pursued a Master’s degree in Food Science from South Dakota State University. Dr. Pourafshar further expanded her qualifications by obtaining a Doctoral degree in Nutrition Science from Florida State University, where she also received her Registered Dietitian certification.

Following her PhD, she joined the University of Virginia as an NIH T32 Postdoctoral Fellow. During her postdoctoral training, she simultaneously earned a second Master’s degree in Clinical Research. Her research experience in clinical research led her to start a career path in industry as a Global Clinical Research Lead and then the Clinical Research Manager. Dr. Pourafshar’s research primarily focuses on the role of bioactive compounds and micronutrients in the prevention of chronic diseases and their broader impact on health. Her work continues to contribute valuable insights into nutritional strategies that enhance overall well-being.
