Application Requirements for All Programs

Applications for all degree programs require:

Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND)

• Personal Statement:
  Please write a 1-2 page personal statement, which should include: the development of your decision to become a naturopathic physician; recent steps taken to further explore this career path; qualities and/or attributes you might bring to NUNM that might distinguish you from other applicants. • ND Whole Person Care Essay:
  NUNM’s naturopathic medical curriculum prepares students to care for patients within an integrative model that draws upon both naturopathic and conventional medical approaches to treat the whole person. The methods graduates may use in practice depend upon the laws and scope-of-practice regulations of the jurisdiction in which they are licensed. As an NUNM student, you will be expected to provide respectful, compassionate care to all patients without bias or discrimination and to develop competency across the full range of subjects and treatment approaches included in the curriculum. Please discuss how you anticipate navigating the following situations during your education at NUNM: a) Providing healthcare to patients whose identities, backgrounds, experiences or beliefs may differ from your own, including differences in gender identity, religion, political viewpoint, race, sexual orientation or other characteristics. b) Learning about and providing treatments that may conflict with your personal beliefs but are required components of your naturopathic medical education. These may include, but are not limited to, specific therapeutic modalities, immunizations, and pharmaceutical medications including hormones. Maximum 1,000 words, double-spaced.

Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Degrees (DAcCHM, MAcCHM, MAc)

• 90 semester credits (or 135 quarter credits) of undergraduate coursework from a regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalent

• Chinese Medicine Whole Person Care Essay:
  NUNM’s Chinese Medicine curriculum prepares students to care for patients using the principles, theories, and clinical practices of Chinese medicine while developing the knowledge and skills necessary to work within today’s healthcare environment. The methods graduates may use in practice depend upon the laws and scope-of-practice regulations of the jurisdiction in which they are licensed. National University of Natural Medicine does not enroll first time students, including students with advanced standing (college credits or recognized postsecondary credential earned before graduation from high school). Students must have completed at least two terms of post-secondary education as evidenced by transcripts in accordance with the NUNM transcript policy.
