Transfer to NUNM

Transferring medical schools is a big decision. We’re here to make your process of becoming a student at the National University of Natural Medicine as smooth as possible.

If you’ve begun a doctoral program in Naturopathic Medicine or Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine program and are looking for a new place to complete your education, the NUNM Admissions team is ready to support you every step of the way.

Why Complete Your Degree at NUNM?

  • Our accreditation is stable. NUNM’s institutional accreditation was reaffirmed by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) in 2025. Our Naturopathic Medicine program is accredited by CNME, and our Chinese Medicine programs are accredited by ACAHM—both with the maximum 7-year reaccreditation.
  • We support transfer students—successfully. We’ve successfully worked with entire cohorts going through a teach-out following a school closure and with individuals seeking to change directions.
  • We design a personalized curriculum for you. Our academic deans will work closely with you to maximize your transfer credits. Our goal is to keep you on track to graduate as close to your original timeline as possible.
  • Flexible start dates are possible. We offer summer, fall, winter, and spring term entry options for transfer students, depending on your program and individualized curriculum plan.

Ready to Take the Next Step?

We’re here to help you navigate the transfer process. Here’s how to get started:

  1. Review our transfer policy and transfer application requirements. — Make sure to check details relevant to your specific program.
  2. Connect with an admissions counselor. — Email us at admissions@nunm.edu. Include your intended program, current institution, degree program, and current year of study. We’ll schedule a call to answer your questions and walk you through the process.
  3. Share documents for transfer credit evaluation. — You’ll need to order official transcripts, and in some cases, we will also need course syllabi or catalog descriptions to complete a transfer credit evaluation.
  4. Complete the transfer application. — Use our streamlined transfer application designed just for you.

What to Expect

  • Curriculum Evaluation & Plan — After your materials are submitted, our program deans will review your academic history and create a transfer course evaluation and a personalized curriculum plan. You’ll receive these documents before your application is finalized, and we’ll request your approval to proceed.
  • Application Interview — Applicants to the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine and Chinese Medicine programs will be invited for an admissions interview as the final step in the application process.
  • Admission Decision — Once your application and/or interview is complete, you’ll receive a decision within 1–3 weeks.

Scholarship Opportunity

The Education Resilience and Pathways Scholarship supports students who, in the face of shifting circumstances across higher education, are seeking to continue their academic journey at NUNM with a mid-program/mid-degree transfer. The scholarship is designed to ease the challenges of transitioning between institutions.

To be considered, applicants must complete a transfer application, have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, and submit a scholarship essay along with the scholarship application form. Transfer student scholarship applications for Fall 2025 are due August 1, 2025.
