Application Requirements

To be considered for admission, each applicant is responsible for submitting a complete application online and for making sure that NUNM receives all required items associated with the application. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed by the Admissions Committee. All applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Dual degrees are allowed with the exception of ND/DAcCHM.

Application Requirements for All Programs

Applications for all degree programs require:

  • $75 non-refundable application fee
  • Official transcripts from all former schools. Applicants should contact the Registrar’s Office at each former college or university, and request that an official transcript be sent to NUNM Admissions electronically to admissions@nunm.edu or via mail to:

  • Resume or CV
  • One recommendation (optional): The recommendation should be completed by an academic or professional contact who knows the applicant well and can evaluate their skills and abilities. Recommendations from family members, significant others, or personal friends are not acceptable.

Program-Specific Application Requirements

Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND)

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalent
  • Program specific prerequisites passed with a grade of C or higher
  • Personal Statement:
    Please write a 2-to-3-page (double spaced) personal statement, which should include: the development of your decision to become a naturopathic physician or CCM practitioner; recent steps taken to further explore this career path; qualities and/or attributes you might bring to NUNM that might distinguish you from other applicants.
  • ND Primary Care Essay:
    While you might not choose to ultimately practice as a primary care physician, you will be trained as such at NUNM and will be expected to work with all patients without bias or discrimination. Please discuss how you anticipate dealing with the following situations while you are a student at NUNM: a) Providing healthcare to patients who may differ from you in terms of gender identity, religion, political viewpoints, race, sexual orientation, etc. b) Providing treatments that you may have conflicting personal beliefs around but are necessary parts of your naturopathic education, including but not limited to administration of immunizations, pharmaceutical drugs, homeopathy, hormone therapies for patients undergoing gender transitions, etc. (maximum 1,000 words, double-spaced)

Classical Chinese Medicine Degrees (DAcCHM, MAcCHM, MAc)

  • 90 semester credits (or 135 quarter credits) of undergraduate coursework from a regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalent
  • Program specific prerequisites passed with a grade of C or higher
  • Personal Statement:
    Please write a 2-to-3-page (double spaced) personal statement, which should include: the development of your decision to become a naturopathic physician or CCM practitioner; recent steps taken to further explore this career path; qualities and/or attributes you might bring to NUNM that might distinguish you from other applicants.
  • CCM Essay:
    Please discuss the specific factors that drew you to apply to the Classical Chinese Medicine program at NUNM.

Master of Science in Clinical Research (MSCR)

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalent
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2
  • Program specific prerequisites passed with a grade of C or higher
  • Essay:
    Please speak to your career goals, background in research or research-related interests, and what interests you about integrative medicine research. (maximum of 1,600 words, double-spaced)

Master of Science in Global Health (MScGH)

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalent
  • Personal Statement:
    Please share what interests you about this program, why you believe you’re a good match for the program, and what you hope to do in the future with this degree. (2000 words max, double-spaced)

Master of Science in Nutrition (MScN)

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalent
  • Essay:
    Speaking to your background in nutrition, interests, and philosophy around nutrition, please share how you plan to use nutrition in your career. (maximum of 1,600 words, double spaced)

Bachelor of Science in Nutrition (BScN) and Bachelor of Science in Integrative Health Sciences (BSIHS)

  • 60 semester credits (or 90 quarter credits) of undergraduate coursework from a regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalent
  • Program specific prerequisites passed with a grade of C or higher
  • Essay:
    Please share a little bit about yourself and your background along with what interests you about receiving your undergraduate degree from NUNM. (maximum of 1200 words, double spaced)

Accelerated Bachelor to Master Science in Nutrition

  • 60 semester credits (or 90 quarter credits) of undergraduate coursework from a regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalent
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Program specific prerequisites passed with a grade of C or higher
  • Essay 1:
    Please share a little bit about yourself and your background along with what interests you about receiving your undergraduate degree from NUNM. (maximum of 1200 words, double spaced)
  • Essay 2:
    What do you believe makes you a quality candidate for the 3-year BScN to MScN program? (1 page, double-spaced)
