If you are looking for a new way to spend your “wellness” hour each week, there are three new groups looking for members/participants.

A Space to Relax

Tuesdays in fall term 2018 beginning Tuesday, September 25 at 10:00 a.m. Location: Academic Bldg. Room 305, Energy Medicine Room – A weekly mindfulness meditation practice. Join NUNM staff, faculty, and students in a weekly session designed to promote present moment awareness while reducing stress and anxiety.

Qigong for Beginners

Vera Alcorn (ND/MSiMH 5/6) is teaching a beginners Qigong class Mondays from 1:00 – 1:50 p.m. in the Energy Medicine Room (room 305). All are welcome! To find out more, contact Vera.

Weekly Yoga Classes

All classes held in Academic Bldg. Room 305, Energy Medicine Room

Feeling Tense? Unwind with yoga! Stretch those tired muscles stiffened from sitting at a computer or cramped over a book. The NUNM Yoga Collective invites everyone on campus to join them as they offer five classes per week to help folks feel more grounded and centered during the day. Third Thursday Brown Bag Book Club

Meetings – Third Thursdays – Noon – 1 p.m.

Monthly book club held during lunch hour on third Thursdays of month. Focus will be fiction books, recent, not so recent and classic. Books will be selected by the club members one month and discussed the following month. Discussions will be member led – alternating discussion leader each month. Join us at a meeting to learn more – meeting room in ND Suite- to the right as you enter.

Knitting Circle

2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month from 1 – 2 p.m.
Library office – Academic building room 101

First meeting is Feb. 8. Bring your stitching projects (and a mug for coffee or tea) and join us for a fun hour of crafting good times. Knitting, crochet, embroidery and needlepoint.

Magic: The Gathering Club

Second Thursday of the month starting February 8

Love card games and casual competition? Want to play the world’s most popular card game with over 20 million players worldwide? Come and join the Magic: The Gathering club! Never played Magic before no fear! Our trusty Magic experts would love to teach you the ins and outs of this wonderful game! Monthly Bunco Game

Bunco is a popular dice game that is easy to learn and lots of fun. It is entirely based on luck not skill and so experienced and new players are welcome. You play in groups of 4 and there is lots of movement as players move to a new table after each game. Maximum attendance at 16 players. Next meeting Thursday September 27 at 3:00 pm in room 207.

The Rainbow Room

This new group forming on campus will offer a supportive space for staff and students who identify as queer and questioning. They will host one public event each term between fall and spring (i.e. game night, movie screenings and workshops about various topics). The group will hold meetings every first and third week of the month – exact days and times to be determined.

January Blood Drive

NUNM Wellness working in conjunction with Bloodworks Northwest will host a blood drive in January (National Blood Drive Month). A final day with times are being pinned down depending on space availability at NUNM. Keep watching this page for more details.
